Public comment sought TONIGHT on off-shore wind farm

There's a chance for the public to comment tonight on a possible plan by Santee Cooper to possibly research the possibility of placing wind turbines off the Grand Strand (yes, it's apparently that tentative). A committee will present a report to the General Assembly by Jan. 1. The meeting will be held at the Baruch Institute in Georgetown, 177 Hobcaw Ave., from 6-8pm tonight.

I'm going to try to make it up there, if the children cooperate; I don't know very much about wind power (much less the offshore variety), but it strikes me that this project is potentially very expensive and also potentially very important, so I think the more members of the general public turn up to listen and talk, the better. If you're in the area, I'd urge you to come over if you can.
